In May 2019, I was hired as an SEO Analyst at Adept Marketing, a digital marketing agency in Columbus, Ohio. During my time at Adept, I learned that a successful SEO strategy is more than rankings or using specific keywords. Smart SEO involves expertly-written content that serves the searcher, a website with great user experience in mind, the use of testimonials to your advantage and so much more, all to ensure that your customers are able to find you organically.
At Adept, I owned several of my own clients and was able to support on larger SEO clients. My responsibilities included:
Building SEO roadmaps and executing tasks to surpass business goals,
Managing clients and presenting SEO deliverables and performance on a monthly basis,
Developing effective content marketing and local SEO strategies through extensive keyword research and SEO audits,
Continuing education of SEO and digital marketing tactics through conferences, webinars and more.
As my digital knowledge and storytelling abilities grew, my position developed into a hybrid role, splitting my time between more content-focused SEO and paid social media. I was promoted to the role of Digital Content Specialist, and along with my SEO responsibilities, I had new responsibilities which included:
Drafting content outlines to guide writer resources for new content initiatives,
Delivering SEO-driven content for landing page creation and website content,
Launching new ads and campaigns for clients on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn,
Managing budget and performance for Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn campaigns,
Analyzing and reporting on paid social performance metrics,
Being a go-to resource for paid social media specifications and best practices.
