The PRactice is Ohio State’s student-run PR firm, affiliated with Ohio State’s chapter of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America). I became a member of PRSSA in September, 2017 and became an Account Associate of The PRactice in August, 2018. Ohio State’s PR firm was a great demonstration of what it’s like to be part of an agency as I worked collaboratively with my team members and built lasting relationships with my clients. My team worked with Ohio State’s School of Communication and a local business, Haven Collective.

For the School of Communication, our team worked diligently to launch an Instagram account for the school and we created precise social media calendars with a goal of delivering information to students in a creative and easy way to digest. We also wrote articles within the School of Communication Alumni Newsletter. During the fall semester in 2018, I interviewed a professor and researcher, Erik Nisbet. Then in spring 2019, interviewed Alan VanderMolen for the Alumni Spotlight.

At the time, Haven Collective was a relatively new business in Columbus and our main tasks revolved around brand awareness and engagement through social media content creation. My team members and I created a social media calendar for their Instagram and Twitter accounts highlighting their events, members and perks of membership. One of our biggest accomplishments was traveling to Haven Collective and interviewing members for the blog on Haven’s website. I always had an interest in photography and I used these skills to take photos that Haven Collective used throughout their site and social media platforms.

I photographed the pictures below, which were featured on Haven Collective’s website. This was my first professional experience photographing people.
