My junior year of college I took COMM 3189, an independent study and the opportunity to write for The Lantern, Ohio State’s newspaper. Each week, I reported to an editor and pitched ideas for possible stories. These pitches led to four pieces of published content in The Lantern. To complete these stories, it required me to do my own in-depth research, interview peers and participate in events in order to report on them.
